This is a simple, positive song about finding your true self and passions in life. I play only 4 chords in the song- C/D/G/Am... and I really like to sing it. Its from the perspective of someone who, after some tumult and a decade of searching, has found a way and then tries to impart some wisdom on a soul who is feeling lost in the seas of indecision. Boiled down, it is essentially present me preaching to past me...
There's a song for you
Out there in the woods
Or maybe on an island
But surely by a great band
I don't know exactly where its been
So, please keep your ears open
You'll find it one of these days
The world'll be less of a stage
You'll find it one of these days
And you'll be so happy
The rhythm will be real sweet
And the guitar part'll be real neat
It'll make you tap your feet
And you'll keep it on repeat
You'll listen to it constantly
This will be your song, your song
When you find it come to me
And lets jive till the morning
Because once you find your song
Your soul is so strong
You'll feel like you finally belong
And you'll no longer long for your song, your song
You'll find it one of these days
The world'll be less of a stage
You'll find it one of these days
And you'll be so happy, happy
Out there in the woods
Or maybe on an island
But surely by a great band
I don't know exactly where its been
So, please keep your ears open
You'll find it one of these days
The world'll be less of a stage
You'll find it one of these days
And you'll be so happy
The rhythm will be real sweet
And the guitar part'll be real neat
It'll make you tap your feet
And you'll keep it on repeat
You'll listen to it constantly
This will be your song, your song
When you find it come to me
And lets jive till the morning
Because once you find your song
Your soul is so strong
You'll feel like you finally belong
And you'll no longer long for your song, your song
You'll find it one of these days
The world'll be less of a stage
You'll find it one of these days
And you'll be so happy, happy
This song came out of me the easiest out of all that I have tried to pen. It started in my sister Rebecca's kitchen as some little thing that seemed too nursery rhyme-ish. I was just fooling around. But within 30 minutes I had this down, & out of all my attempts at writing a song, this one seems most genuine to me. That is why I started with this one.
I have found that I am sometimes too heady for heart, so I like it when heart comes through. I am working on having more heart, more soul in my lyrics... Tough thing to do!
